Ichthyol ointment
Anti-inflammatory agent for local use. The active compound ichthammol has an antimicrobial (bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes) keratoplastic effect.Accelerates the maturation of boils.
With direct action on the skin, it causes slight irritation of sensitive nerve endings, which is followed by a decrease of their sensitivity, which leads to the appearance of reflexes that change tissue nutrition. Causes denaturation of protein molecules.
Indications: erysipelas, eczema, pyoderma (including furunculosis).
